Pit 103: Level 2

Completed on August 11, 2018, by Casiana Bacay, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Level 2 still had many modern day items but the Granby artifacts increased. The most interesting find may actually be a civil war artifact. Found at the bottom of level 2 was a brass piece which matches the size of the top cap on a powder flask. The closest flask match was with a James Dixon & Sons flask from the period 1850-1870. This would be after Granby and possibly from Union Army General William Sherman's camp at "Old Granby" just a couple of days before the burning of Columbia in 1865.

Pit 103: Level 2 produced: Granby period: Nine kitchen pottery, five kitchen glass, five imported English window glass, three nails, and a possible brass powder flask top. Native American: Three pottery, one flint.
