Pit 120: Level 1

Completed on March 27, 2021 by Kyle and Alexander Markey, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. The father and son Markeys joined us today. They are neighbors and, in the near future, we will do some digging in their yard. For pit 120, we moved back to the hot area along the Riverland Drive street. This is exactly adjacent (east-west) to pit 20 which we did 8.5 years ago. The level provided a great set of Granby artifacts including colorful (and expensive) imported pottery from England (probably 1790s.) There were some older (rough) green wine bottle glass that are probably pre-Granby. A split pipe stem may also be one of the rare 1680-1720 pipes. There were also some Native American pottery pieces. Another indication of the disturbance in level one was a 1979 penny.

Pit 120: Level 1 produced: 16 pieces of pottery, one split pipe-stem, one penny, one slate, 12 Native American, four slag, 8 glass, 6 nails, 7 charcoal, and two iron.
