Pit 125: Level 1

Completed on May 16, 2021, by Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. Once again, we are back in the possible slave quarters area. As will all level ones here, it was mostly modern items near the surface. How appropriate it was that we found a toy Fire Truck in Granby pit 125 while in-between work at Kyle Markey's house. Kyle works as a fireman. At the Markey house, we almost accidentally buried one of Alexander's toy cars while sifting. A little research seems to pinpoint the origin of our find to Woolco at Dutch Square. It was sold in a Woolco "Peeler" set that was made between 1973 and 1974. An ad in The State newspaper shows the Dutch Square Woolco was selling Peeler sets for the 1973 Christmas season. Here is our find (ladder missing) with one I found on eBay, and the Dutch Square evidence. I think we may have actually found a part of the missing ladder in another Granby pit.

Pit 125: Level 1 produced: Only modern (1960-1980) items, including a 1973 toy fire truck.

Below is our fire truck find. Its missing ladder may have been found in another pit.

Below is the same fire truck which was on sale on eBay.

A bit of research narrowed the date of the toy to be 1973. It was probably purchased at Woolco at Dutch Square Mall.
