Pit 126: Level 2

Completed on May 22, 2021, by Gary and Sue Kelly, Kim Masters, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. The Granby artifacts increased, as usual, for level two. We found a 1720-1750 pipe stem. After over 125 pits, we have seen that this age pipe stem tends to be found in and out of the hot Granby area meaning that this is probably pre-Granby and more likely related to the Fort Congaree II (1748) or Thomas Brown (1730-1748) periods. We also found a large and unusually thin green bottle glass piece.

Pit 126: Level 2 produced: 12 kitchen pottery, 2 stoneware, 9 kitchen glass, 14 window glass, 7 nails, 1 pipe, 9 Native American, 4 charcoal, 2 iron, 1 lead, 1 slate, and 9 slag.
