Pit 147: Level 3 and 4

Completed on September 5, 2022 by Kim Masters, Jocelyn and DC Locke, Odess and David Brinkman. As expected, we would go four levels with this pit because of the roots. The roots were a significant problem, even with a chainsaw. We did find a reasonable amount of Granby (including a 1720-1750 pipe stem) and Native artifacts, but it was a noticeable decline from the pits to the north. This means we have reached the southern end of the Granby store/kitchen building. I think we all agree that the effort to dig in these roots would not be worth going any further south, where artifacts would continue to decline.

Pit 147: Level 3 produced: 15 pottery, two stoneware, seven kitchen glass, five window glass, seven nails, one pipe, one slate, two charcoal, and nine Native American pieces.
